Scotch Eggs


  • 5 Eggs
  • 1 lb of sausage
  • 1 cup of flour
  • ½ cup of panko or breadcrumbs
  • 2 TBS garlic powder
  • 2 TBS onion powder
  • 1 TBS black pepper
  • 1 TBS paprika
  • 1 TBS hot sauce
  • vegetable oil for frying


  1. Boil your eggs for 4.5 minutes
  2. Remove eggs and place in ice water for 5 minutes
  3. Peel eggs being careful not to break the egg, they will be delicate
  4. Using roughly ¼ pound sausage wrap egg completely being careful not to break the egg
  5. Combine flour and spices in a bowl and mix thoroughly
  6. Whisk 1 egg and hot sauce together
  7. Roll sausage covered egg in flour mixture, then egg, then panko crumbs. It’s helpful to use one hand for dry steps and one hand for the egg so as not to make clumps and batter your own fingers.
  8. Heat oil to 350 and fry eggs for 10 minutes
  9. Let Scotch eggs cool enough to handle and enjoy!
